INFORMATION QUESTIONS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1- What are corona and plasma? What are the differences?
  • Corona and plasma devices are devices used to increase the surface energy of the material.
As terms, corona and plasma jet are 2 different types of plasma state of matter.
  • Corona device: These are devices used in film-shaped materials with widths between 10 mm and 3500 mm, up to 100 microns thick.
  • Plasma device: Depending on the number of nozzles it has, the nozzle head has a maximum width of 50 mm and is used in 3D materials.

2-Why is corona and plasma needed?
  • With developing technology, there is a need to use corona and plasma devices to reduce the use of chemical substances and reduce costs.
  • Bonding - before painting and printing: Corona and plasma devices increase the surface energy of the material and ensure that the paint, adhesive or printing adheres better to the material.

3-In which areas and for what purpose is it used in the sector?
  • It is actively used in the sector in bodinoz machines, flexo machines, sandwich panel lines, cable pulling lines and in the textile industry.
  • In Bodinoz machines; Corona devices are used for pre-press preparation by increasing the surface energy of plastic materials (PP, PE, all polymer materials).
  • In Flexo Machines; It is used to increase the adhesion of adhesives such as primer, glue or printing to the material surface.
  • In sandwich panel lines; Corona devices are used to increase the adhesion of sheet metal and foam to each other.
  • In Cable Lines; Plasma devices are generally used. It is used to ensure the permanence of the writings written on the cable.
  • In the textile industry; Thanks to the corona treatment applied before painting, it provides both a more homogeneous color and less paint usage.
Corona devices are actively used to make dyed or undyed fabric gain water repellent properties.

4- What should be considered when choosing a device?

When selecting the device, the relevant process and the characteristics of the material used are taken as reference.

For example; While aluminum electrodes can be used in bodinoz machines, ceramic electrodes are used in sandwich panel lines.

Choosing the right device is very important in terms of both cost and application. You can consult our company's expert staff on this matter.

5- How can we measure the effect of corona and plasma on the material surface?

Each material has its own unique surface energy. The lowest material surface energy is around 20 Dyne.

If we want to measure the surface energy of the material after corona and plasma treatment, solutions or pens with ASTM standards, known as Corona Pen, are used in the market.

For example; If we want to measure the surface energy of the polymer material at the 29 Dyne level before the process, after the plasma or corona treatment, we should use a corona pen suitable for the corona and plasma Dyne level we need. This level can be measured from 30 to 72 Dyne level.

6-How should corona and plasma devices be maintained?

Corona Device Maintenance:

  • You can access our corona care guide from the knowledge base on the home page.

Plasma Device Maintenance:

  • The nozzle must be clean and a sufficient amount of clean air must be able to reach the device.
  • The nozzle must be changed every 6 months.

7-Are the operating costs of corona and plasma devices high?

Our Corona and plasma devices, designed by our expert engineer staff, consume less energy than other devices on the market.

The card design and manufacturing of our device with Igbt technology is also done by our expert staff.

8- How can we get technical support?
  • You can reach us for any problems you may have at the numbers on our website. Our technical team will support you 24/7.
  • We provide repair and maintenance services at your place or in our factory for corona devices of different brands that you currently use.
  • The results of the corona tests we carry out in our laboratory with the samples you direct us in line with your requests are shared with you.
